Responsibilities

SUMMARY:

Under supervision of the Asset Recovery Manager, performs collection activities for delinquent loan accounts to resolve delinquent status, minimize loss and enhance loss recovery.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • In accordance with Credit Union policy and collection procedures, initiates collection activity by contacting members via telephone, written correspondence, e-mail and fax on past due accounts; ensures follow-up calls are made at appropriate intervals throughout the month. 
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in all member interactions.        
  • Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy for the purpose of collection workouts, extensions, collection agency forwarding and charge off recoveries.
  • Performs other collection tasks including skip tracing, collecting on returned checks and resolving account disputes.
  • Ensures timely resolution of member inquiries.
  • Provides status reports when requested on the following: negative share accounts, potential credit card charge-offs and loan extensions. 
  • Maintains knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act and other applicable Federal and State regulations; performs all work in compliance with these regulations.
  • Maintains a flexible schedule to meet business needs which includes some evening and week-end work.
  • Maintains a positive and caring atmosphere for members and employees consistent with the Credit Union's mission and philosophy.
  • Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of computer equipment and software required including Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.

 

 

 

The pay range for this position is $20.12 -$25.15 /hr. and is based on experience.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma; one-year related experience and/or training, preferably within a financial services environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Auto collections experience preferred.
